Starlink Mini vs Standard: what changes?

Reviewed · UK Satellite Internet

Mini is the smaller travel-friendly kit, with built-in Wi-Fi and lower power use. Standard has a separate router and is the usual starting point for a fixed home connection. Choose the hardware and plan together, since availability depends on the order.

Mini for carrying and limited power

Mini is easier to pack and its integrated Wi-Fi reduces the number of separate pieces. This can suit camping or a motorhome. You still need a suitable power source, an open sky view and a plan that permits use in those locations.

Standard for a home

A separate indoor router lets the dish sit outdoors while Wi-Fi starts from a useful position inside. Check the router’s coverage before adding mesh units. Standard’s larger power requirement also matters if you plan to run it from a battery.

Check the kit before buying extras

Mini and Standard use different mounts, cables and power arrangements. Follow the specification for the exact model. For home use, compare the available Residential bundle; for travel, read the Roam terms, including data allowances and in-motion use.
